Volunteers needed for Fairbridge camps
VOLUNTEER John Harris says FAIR camps are the one place he can really be himself and be loved for who he is.
John is a volunteer on Fairbridge’s FAIR, a program that gives families of children with a disability regular weekends of fun and relaxation and helps them build support networks to better integrate them into society. The program is looking for more volunteers for the monthly camps.
John says he first started coming to FAIR camps with his family when he was just 13 years old. “I wanted to stay a part of the Fairbridge family,” he says. “He therefore volunteered on the camps for an impressive nine years.”
The FAIR Program has watched John grow into the amazing place he is at today. He is funny, caring and forms a strong bond with everyone on camp. Living with ADHD, epilepsy and Pulmonary Stenosis himself, John has had to play a lot of things safe. Fairbridge runs 12 camps a year and there is not one that John has missed.
