Media producers touched
“WHEN we arrived at Fairbridge Village, we had no idea how beautiful it was going to be,” says creative producer Raz Islam. The director of Raz Media - which specialises in corporate films – was onsite to produce a short video of the work of Fairbridge and tourism opportunities at the Pinjarra-based village as a way to give towards the work of helping young people.
“It was a joy to film there,” Raz says. “The village is a microcosm of function areas, play areas, accommodation and grand buildings. We saw with our own eyes how well the training and apprenticeship programs worked. All the students and trainees we spoke to loved the place.”
Raz said they decided to get involved because they understood Fairbridge helped struggling young people with training and work opportunities. “They are an organisation that supports the underdog,” he said. “We liked the intelligent structure they had that supports and cares for young people while giving them valuable work skills.”
He recalled a story of one of the apprentices he interviewed for the film.
“Five years ago this person has been kicked out of the apprenticeship in his first year, and now - because of Fairbridge - he has finally been given the opportunity to work on finishing it.”
Raz Media donated his time and skills to Fairbridge to put together the film clip from the perspective of the trainees and apprentices. Countless hours have been spent by Raz preparing, filming, editing and putting the finishing touches to the film, which had its public screening debut at Mandurah’s open air cinema on Friday.
Raz Media is a West Australian company that specialises in creative corporate video. There is also Raz Photography for weddings and Raz Productions, which creates short film and other fictional productions.
