 Adventure Activities

Our high ropes course is made up of elements that start at 3.5M high and progressively get more difficult and higher (5m) around the course. Great for developing trust and confidence. (Recommended for ages 12+)

ROCK CLIMBING
(1.5 hours)
With the choice of either an 7m indoor, 8m outdoor or 15m outdoor climb, participants undergo a challenging climb using a safety rope ‘belay’ device which is supervised by an experienced instructor – can be run in conjunction with Abseiling. The indoor wall allows for the flexibility of evening use.

Our new abseiling tower is a 15m high structure with easy take off and wheelchair access. Top role belay is used for safety. Can be run in conjunction with Rock Climbing. See also natural abseiling

Set on a 3m raised platform, our Giant Swing provides participants with an exhilarating rush as they fly through the air while safely secured by a harness – can be run in conjunction with the Flying Fox.

Our flying fox starts from a platform 3m from the ground and travels down a slight hill for 80m. Fantastic for all ages especially younger children – can be run in conjunction with the Giant Swing.

  LEAP OF FAITH
(1.5 hours)
Participants must muster all their confidence and courage to climb to the top of our pamper pole, before they put their faith in themselves to jump and reach to catch the mid-air suspended trapeze. Participants are supported by a harness and rope.

Our low ropes course and adventure games are fantastic for anyone looking to develop a team or offer not only physical but mental challenge to your group. You will be given fun games and problem solving activities to stretch your team’s initiative, teamwork & communication skills. Great for all ages.

Amazing Race
(1.5 - 2 hours)
A great team building activity in which participants compete
in teams against each other in a race to complete challenging
tasks set out before them. Can be customised to meet your group requirements.

(1.5 hours)
A group activity aimed at establishing team building and problem solving skills. Groups are challenged to cross the South Dandalup River using rope and pulleys under supervision. Participants will require all their skill to ensure that the team crosses the river and stays dry.

(1 – 1.5 hours, can be self-facilitated)
Orienteering gives the students an opportunity to learn to map read without using a compass (NB: Can be adapted for compass use). Search for Numbers is a fantastic activity for students who are younger or in wheelchairs. In both activities the participants are given clues or questions that they need to answer to find the solution to their problem.

Participants will go on a casual bike ride through the Fairbridge grounds and out to the old cemetery. Maximum 18 participants per group

An exciting activity where budding Archers are given the opportunity to learn some new skill or improve on existing ones. For groups of up to 20 at a time.

Travel on a purpose built trailer through Fairbridge Village and take a series of winding gravel tracks through the native bushland that surrounds. This can also include a visit to the Fairbridge Cemetery. Maximum 20 people per session. Don't wear your good clothes as you're likely to get dirty.

Pool2.JPG POOL LIFEGUARD FOR SWIMMING
The activities staff are all qualified with their Bronze medallion and can come and watch the pool for you, so you can sit back and relax. Maximum 30 people in the pool at once (or up to 60 participants with an additional lifeguard).

BOOMERANG MAKING
(1 hour)
You will sand and paint a design of your choice on your boomerang and then give it a test flight. This is a nice casual activity. The younger kids really enjoy it.

ECO HIKE

Enjoy a 2 kilometre hike along the banks of the mighty South Dandalup River learning about the regions history, river ecology and water management issues.

An activity designed to show the advantages of team work as participants work in groups to gather food, water, shelter and fire to aid the group survival.

Participants travel back into the days of our early settlers to make a morning or afternoon tea with a difference. An excellent activity to combine with the Eco Hike.

HISTORICAL TOUR
(1 hour)
Start your camp off with a tour of the village to learn your way around. Tours will include the history of Fairbridge, as well as what we do today to keep the village running and the community involved. Upon request, a trip to the Fairbridge Museum can be arranged.

Come and take a stroll around our mini golf course. Nine challenging holes present the player with a mission to complete and to beat all the other competitors. Interpretative signage enables participants to learn about the plight of some of our endangered animals.

Night time activities around a camp fire to end a hard day of activities. Toast marsh mallows, perform skits and enjoy a sing a long.

Have the whole group facing challenges together as teams to try and beat each other teams. Games can be customised to meet the group needs. Can also include Lantern Stalk.

Cemetery Night Hike
(1.5-2 hours)
Enjoy a hike to Fairbridge's historical cemetery. A fantastic way to view the night sky and openness of the bush immerse yourself in the history of Fairbridge. This activity can also be run during the day

NATURAL ABSEILING
(2 hours+)

A fun filled morning or afternoon at our natural 12m abseiling site. A short journey takes you up behind Fairbridge so you can undertake a thrilling abseil down the granite face taking in the amazing views of the South Dandalup River.

Don't let the adventures stop there! We can also do a day trip out to Churchman Brook; a 40 min drive from fairbridge leads you to a natural abseiling site with 30m cliffs and the chance to also do some natural rock climbing.

Participants will be shown safety and canoeing techniques before heading down the beautiful Murray River. All safety equipment is provided together with qualified and experienced instructors and a tone of fun. (Bus Required). Maximum 16 participants per group.

(2 -2.5hours)
Participants will build their own  raft and paddle it down the magnificent Murray River. Recommended for summer/autumn months when the river is lower. All safety gear and equipment is provided together with qualified and experienced instructors to escort your group down stream. A great activity to develop team skills (Bus Required)

Participants are taken out to explore the local marine life. Snorkels, masks and fins are provided. (Bus required)

Surfing is a past time that is becoming increasingly popular with both young and old, and can be enjoyed at any time of the year. Surfing lessons can be catered for beginners through to advanced levels by experienced and enthusiastic coaches, who are accredited by Surfing Australia. Advanced notice is required to book surfing (Bus Required)

Conducted on the Murray River or a local Mandurah beach with easy to use hand lines.

 Bus Hire

Where an activity states “Bus Required” participants can either use their own bus or hire one from Fairbridge at $90 (half day) or $170 (full day).
 
You can also contact us about picking up and returning your group from the Mandurah Train Station or other places locally to help with your costs in getting to fairbridge.
 

 
Accreditation
Come and have fun knowing that our staff are accredited and qualified to Education Department Guidelines and Fairbridge’s Standard Operating Procedures & Fairbridge’s ropes course and equipment conforms to Australian Safety Standards. All instructors have minimum Senior First Aid and Working with Children Cards. A copy of our qualifications, safety standards, accreditation and adventure training philosophy can be mailed or faxed to you upon request.
 
For school groups, we can ensure you meet your K-10 syllabus requirements - speak to our Activities team about how we can help.
 
Bookings
Bookings for all activities require minimum 7 working days notice (although we prefer at least 2 weeks notice). Minimum group size is 10 participants (15 participants for weekends).
 
Price guide
(wd) = weekday – Monday to Friday and (we) = weekend – Saturday and Sunday
Discount prices are available for some combined activity sessions.
Prices are valid for bookings from January 2013
